After several weeks of clearance and Authorization problems, The Government of Pakistan has finally settled the issue of unpaid invoices to Google.

The Standing Committee on Information Technology was informed by representatives from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication that the long-standing Play Store payment issue had been resolved after the ministry contacted the Finance Division to handle the issue as soon as possible.

According to them, All payments have been made to the involved businesses per the Prime Minister’s instructions.

Relevantly, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) last month denied payments totaling $34 million in direct carrier billing (DCB) to overseas service providers including Google, Amazon, and Meta. This sparked a discussion about payment restrictions on foreign service providers.

When the blockage was not lifted, Play Store in Pakistan halted carrier-paid Apps.

As a result of the Central bank restricting the opening of letters of credit, numerous other industries throughout the nation are also suffering (LCs).

Since the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has issued a warning about a probable scarcity of medicines in the nation, the central bank is refusing to open Letters of Credit (LCs) for the import of raw materials needed in pharmaceutical manufacturing.
