TikTok is short-video sharing platform, where users can make and share 15-second films on any subject.
For the Chinese market, TikTok maintains a distinct app called Duyin, which has over 300 million active monthly users. The Musical.ly and Duyin logos were combined to create the new app’s logo.
For a brief while on November 4th afternoon, many users who attempt to access their For You page inside theĀ app receive the notification that there is “no internet connection”. Everything seems to be working again after an outage that lasted from 1:25 PM ET until about 1:45 PM ET.
Although TikTok hasn’t provided an update on the outage as of yet, tracker Downdetector found more than 75,000 reports of it while it was happening. TikTok was disconnected worldwide, with no indication of country-level blocking of the frequently criticised app, according to global internet connection watchdog NetBlocks, which also commented on the outage.
