NEW DELHI  Abhijit Bose, India’s head of  Meta WhatsApp, and Rajiv Aggarwal, public policy director at India’s Meta Platforms Inc., have resigned, a Meta spokesperson said on Tuesday.

The departure of Meta’s Indian boss, Ajit Mohan, who retired this month to join Rival Snap Inc. after four years at the company.

Meta is also in the midst of massive layoffs announced last week, cutting more than 11,000 jobs, or 13% of its workforce. Facebook’s parent company is doubling down on its bet on the Metaverse amid a collapsing ad market and decades of inflation.

A Meta spokesperson said neither departure was related to the current layoffs.

Meta has appointed Sibunath Thukral as the new director of public policy in India and the company is looking to replace Abhijit Bose, a spokesperson said.
