Windows 10 & 11 Update

After the second Tuesday in December, Microsoft has already released its usual set of Windows Updates Patch on Tuesday. For customers to be aware of all that has been improved upon, the company has also distributed the release notes for those changes. Updates are available for all supported versions of Windows 10 (KB5021233 update; opens in new tab), Windows 11 Version 22H2 (KB5021255 update), and Windows 11 Version 22H1 (KB5021234 update).

What you should know about Update

  • Recently, the December 2022 Patch Tuesday updates for Windows 11 and Windows 10 were released.
  • The updates for both operating systems come with a number of bug fixes and enhancements.

  • This version fixes a known problem that may have an impact on Task Manager. It might employ unusual colour schemes to display some UI elements. It’s possible that some UI elements are not legible. If “Choose your mode” is set to “Custom” under the Personalization > Colors area of Settings, then this problem could happen.

  • The Data Protection Application Programming Interface (DPAPI) decryption problem is fixed in this release. A certificate’s private key decryption might not succeed. This could lead to problems with 802.1 certificate-based authentication for virtual private networks (VPNs) and other systems. If you use the incorrect value to encrypt the DPAPI master key, this problem could arise.
